Amazon Raises Echo, Kindle and Fire TV Prices as Memory Costs Surge

Amazon has raised prices on several of its first-party devices, including Echo smart speakers, Fire TV devices and Kindle e-readers, as the consumer electronics industry faces significant increases in memory and storage component costs, Sebastian Herrera reported for Fortune Tech.

The company raised prices across several hardware products last week, according to a review by Fortune.

The base Echo Dot, for example, increased from $49.99 to $79.99, while the Echo Show 11 rose from $219.99 to $249.99.

Amazon also increased the price of its 16-gigabyte Kindle from $109.99 to $149.99 and its 16-gigabyte Kindle Paperwhite from $159.99 to $199.99. Other affected products include Fire TV devices and Eero networking equipment. 

An Amazon spokeswoman confirmed the price increases, saying the consumer electronics industry is facing significant increases in memory and storage component costs.

She said Amazon had absorbed those increases for as long as it could before adjusting prices across its product lines.

Some Amazon products were not affected. Ring products, for example, were excluded from the price increases, according to reports.
