Amy's Kitchen Recalls More Than 200,000 Soup Cans Over Spoilage Risk

Amy's Kitchen has recalled more than 15,000 cases—equivalent to more than 200,000 cans—of Organic Lentil Soup – Light Sodium because of a manufacturing defect that could lead to product spoilage, Caitlin Hornik reported for The Independent.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall involves a defect affecting the lids of certain cans.

An Amy's Kitchen spokesperson said the company initiated the recall out of an abundance of caution to maintain product quality and consumer safety.

The FDA initially announced the recall in June and has since upgraded it to a Class II recall, indicating that use of the affected products could cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.

The recalled soup was distributed across 27 U.S. states as well as parts of Canada.

Amy's Kitchen said no other products are affected by the recall.
