One of the world’s leading AI companies released its most powerful model, but adoption has been less than spectacular.

Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5, a member of its Mythos-class model family, represented 11% of corporate spending on Anthropic products two months after its release, according to data from payment processor Ramp, Andrew Nusca reported for Fortune Tech.
However, that share of spending has stalled, according to Ramp’s data, suggesting that customers are not automatically switching to the latest and most expensive AI model.
The trend could have significant implications for frontier AI companies, which have invested billions of dollars in developing increasingly sophisticated models.
The Financial Times noted that if the trend persists, it could alter the business model of AI companies that have traditionally directed much of their spending toward training larger and more advanced models.
Anthropic's Claude Opus 5 is reportedly close to Fable 5 in performance at half the price, costing $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens. Fable 5 costs $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens.
Anthropic launched Fable 5 as a publicly available version of its Mythos technology.
