AOC Raps Justices For Destroying Supreme Court

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York said Sunday that some Supreme Court (SC) justices are “destroying the legitimacy of the court,” amid a lack of oversight, calling it “profoundly dangerous” for democracy, Aileen Graef reported for CNN.

“We have a broad level of tools to deal with misconduct, overreach and abuse of power, and the SC has not been receiving the adequate oversight necessary in order to preserve their own legitimacy,” Ocasio-Cortez told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.”

The progressive lawmaker cited recent allegations against Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas over ethics improprieties.

Her comments come as the court wrapped up its term with a slew of consequential rulings, including ending affirmative action for college admissions, clocking student loan debt relief and limiting LGBTQ protections.
