Apple is expanding its manufacturing operations in Houston, Texas, where it is developing a 20,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Center that will provide hands-on training in advanced manufacturing techniques to students, supplier employees and U.S. businesses.

The facility is scheduled to open later this year, Lily Mae Lazarus reported for Fortune Tech.

Apple has already begun producing advanced AI servers at its Houston manufacturing site.

The company announced in February that Mac mini production would also begin at the Houston campus later this year, marking the first time the product will be manufactured in the United States.

The Advanced Manufacturing Center will teach techniques used in Apple's manufacturing operations and is intended to help U.S. companies adopt advanced production technologies.

Apple's Houston expansion is part of its broader $600 billion U.S. investment commitment announced in 2025.

Apple has said its Houston operations are already producing AI servers for use in its U.S. data centers. The company also expects its expanded Houston operations to create thousands of jobs.
