Apple’s September 9 event, set for 1 p.m. Eastern, comes at a critical moment for one of the world’s most valuable companies.

The highlight is expected to be the ultra-thin iPhone 17 “Air,” marking the first time the “Air” branding — long associated with MacBooks — is applied to an iPhone. It is expected to replace the iPhone Plus, Dave Smith reported for Fortune Tech.
The standard iPhone 17 is rumored to feature a new 24-megapixel front-facing camera, doubling the resolution of current models.
The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to sport a pill-shaped camera bump larger than prior designs, with a 48-megapixel telephoto lens capable of up to 8x optical zoom.
On the wearables side, the Apple Watch Series 11 is said to emphasize health-tracking improvements, possibly introducing blood-pressure trend monitoring. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will reportedly be the first Apple Watch with standalone satellite connectivity, according to Bloomberg.
