The announcement came during the association's recent board meeting held on February 19, 2024, at the Esade Business School in Barcelona, Spain.
Dean Galang's tenure as president-elect will span until July 31, 2025, following which he will serve as the president of IAJBS for an additional two years.
Expressing his gratitude for the appointment, Dean Galang stated, "It is a tremendous honor and responsibility to be selected by my colleagues from different Jesuit business schools to help lead our organization in the coming years."
At the core of this appointment is a recognition of Ateneo de Manila University's commitment to fostering collaboration among Jesuit institutions and its innovative approach to educating future leaders through Ignatian pedagogy and principles.
In his capacity as president-elect, Dean Galang will join the IAJBS Board, working closely with current leadership to foster greater partnerships in teaching, research, and service among Jesuit universities worldwide.
Established in 1995, IAJBS serves as the global network of academic leaders of Jesuit business schools.
In 2019, the association launched the Inspirational Paradigm, aimed at reinventing business education in response to challenges such as poverty and environmental degradation.
To support this vision, IAJBS publishes the Journal of Management for Global Sustainability, focusing on peer-reviewed research in areas like environmental preservation and social entrepreneurship.
Outlined in the association's strategic initiatives and goals are efforts to explore opportunities for joint degree programs, promote international student experiences, enhance alumni networking, and develop programming to elevate the caliber of Jesuit business education globally.
Additionally, IAJBS aims to reinforce collaboration on research, expand faculty development programs, organize regional groupings and meetings among business school deans, and develop mentoring programs for both new deans and those seeking accreditation.
Dean Galang's appointment reflects not only his personal achievements but also Ateneo de Manila University's ongoing commitment to academic excellence and global leadership in Jesuit business education.
