Australian Basketball Court Gets A Curry Brand Makeover

That’s why we set out to “Change the Game for Good,” an ongoing initiative from Curry Brand aimed at creating opportunity, access, and equality for youth sports in neighborhoods around the world.

In service of this mission, Curry Brand has proudly forged a partnership with Charity Bounce — an Australian organization that uses sports, the arts, and education to uplift disadvantaged communities, with a particular focus on Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders and culturally diverse communities, including newly arrived refugees. Using the power of sport, Charity Bounce inspires change, builds resiliency, and creates positive job opportunities for young people at risk.
As part of this partnership, Curry Brand has committed to rejuvenating youth facilities in Arncliffe New South Wales, Australia that are used for Charity Bounce programs — making it the first official Curry Brand basketball court outside of the United States.

The Arncliffe Youth Centre is focused on supporting young people in the Bayside Council region of New South Wales. The first of its kind in the region, the center hosts a range of youth activities including art classes, movies, workshops, and sports programs. However, the hard floor courts at the facility were unsuitable to host elite basketball programs or attract new athletes to invest their time and engage in the charity’s longer-term initiatives.
That will change, as Curry Brand is set to transform the Arncliffe Youth Center into a world-class sports facility. Among other improvements, Under Armour and Curry Brand will install a FIBA-approved court floor that will provide not only a top-of-the-line play surface, but a glistening center stage for all future Charity Bounce programs and initiatives.
With the new court installed, Charity Bounce plans to launch a calendar of weekly programs and initiatives to support and empower youth athletes in the neighborhood and surrounding areas.
Local primary and high schools will be welcomed to access the new court and engage with Charity Bounce on its plans to deliver resiliency basketball and social impact programs to more than 5,000 youths. Additionally, the venue floor will be accessed by a range of other community partners and sports program providers, in partnership with Bayside Council.
“Play is a fundamental part of childhood and is critical to development. So much of who I am as a person and a leader today is because of playing sports as a kid,” said Stephen Curry.
“I learned the value of hard work, resilience, teamwork, communication, time management—sports teach young athletes so many critical life skills, which is why I’m passionate about making sure everyone has access to these opportunities, first through my foundation and now through Curry Brand.”
