Ayala Land's real estate investment trust (REIT) subsidiary, AREIT, Inc., has been awarded the Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) Zero Carbon Certification for eight office buildings covering 354,000 square meters.

This milestone positions Ayala Land and AREIT's offices as the largest EDGE Zero Carbon certified portfolio in the Philippines.
The EDGE certification, developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), recognizes properties that have neutralized their carbon emissions through renewable energy use.
To achieve EDGE Zero Carbon certification, buildings must demonstrate a minimum of 40% energy savings, 20% water savings, and a reduction in embodied carbon materials compared to baseline standards.
AREIT's eight certified buildings include Glorietta 1 and 2 Corporate Center, Solaris One, McKinley Exchange Corporate Center in Makati, Vertis North Corporate Centers 1, 2, and 3 in Quezon City, and The 30th Corporate Center in Pasig.
These buildings achieved significant improvements in energy efficiency (45.33%), water conservation (49.07%), and embodied carbon material reduction (61.88%).

Ayala Land and AREIT solidified their commitment to accelerating the transition to net zero by signing an MOU with the IFC in September 2023.
Under this agreement, they aim to achieve EDGE Zero Carbon certification across 1.5 million square meters of office space by 2025, establishing the Philippines' largest EDGE Zero Carbon office portfolio.
Jean-Marc Arbogast, IFC Country Manager for the Philippines, commended Ayala Land and AREIT for achieving the highest level of EDGE certification, highlighting their successful translation of climate ambitions into action.
He expressed anticipation for the certification of the rest of their office portfolio.
Ayala Land, Inc. and AREIT, Inc. have demonstrated their commitment to sustainability by transitioning 88% of their office portfolio to renewable energy, equivalent to 1.2 million square meters of gross leasing space, thereby enabling their office locators to achieve their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives.
