Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, the 23-year-old heir to the Belgian throne, may be forced to leave Harvard University after the Trump administration announced a sweeping ban on international students enrolling at the Ivy League institution, NBC News’ Viola Flowers reported.

Elisabeth, who holds the title Duchess of Brabant, is currently studying for a master’s degree in public policy at Harvard after earning her undergraduate degree from Oxford.

A spokesperson for the Belgian Royal Palace confirmed she had completed her first year and that officials were “investigating the situation.”

The move is part of a broader crackdown on foreign student visas and has sparked backlash from Harvard, which immediately sued the administration, arguing the policy violates the First Amendment and would severely impact operations—given that roughly 25% of its student body is international.
