Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former Baltimore Mayor Kurt Schmoke are also part of the investor group, as reported by Noah Trister for the Associated Press (AP).
The acquisition group is led by Baltimore native David Rubenstein, co-founder of the Carlyle Group.
Additional investors were disclosed in a news release on Wednesday announcing the agreement between Rubenstein and the Angelos family, who have owned the team for the past three decades.
