Often likened to the "Oscars" in the power industry, the Asian Power Awards annually recognizes and applauds outstanding accomplishments and pioneering endeavors within the Asia Pacific's energy sector.

For CREC, this recognition serves as a testament to their unwavering dedication to excellence, innovation, and sustainability on a global platform.

At the heart of this accolade stands CREC's pioneering Agrosolar Initiative, a unique and groundbreaking platform that intertwines solar power generation with agricultural production.

This visionary initiative not only secures CREC's position among the esteemed winners of this year but also marks the only platform of its kind in the Philippines.

Speaking on this momentous win, Mr. Oliver Tan, the President and CEO of CREC, shared, "Our commitment extends beyond clean energy as we equally prioritize the continued growth and development of the micro-economy around our operations. The Agrosolar Initiative stands as a testament to our understanding of the crucial land requirements for solar plant facilities and our proactive efforts to support and ensure the welfare of local farmers."

The Agrosolar Initiative by Citicore concurrently utilizes land for both solar facilities and agricultural purposes, offering invaluable support to small-scale farmers in their surrounding communities.

This unique fusion optimizes the use of natural resources and facilitates multi-sectoral economic growth by integrating industrialization with agricultural development.

The success of this initiative underscores CREC's strong commitment to corporate social responsibility through projects focused on education, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental stewardship.

Since its inception in 2021, the Agrosolar program has significantly impacted farmers in partner communities, leading to the successful harvest of over 10,000 kilograms of assorted high-value crops, including local cabbage (pechay), turmeric, French beans, arugula, eggplants, and chilis.

This recent recognition at the Asian Power Awards adds to CREC's impressive collection of prestigious accolades earlier in the year.

As CREC continues to innovate and lead the charge in sustainable energy practices, its commitment to transformative solutions that benefit the environment and local communities remains unwavering.

The Agrosolar Initiative is a shining example of how pioneering strategies in the energy sector can create a positive ripple effect on society and the environment.
