Dairy Output Down 10% In Q2

Domestic production of dairy fell by 10% during the second quarter of 2023, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said.

Data from the PSA showed that dairy output from April to June this year was at 6,760 metric tons (MT), lower in relation to the 7,510 MT recorded in the same period of 2022. Calabarzon (Region 4A) was the top producer of dairy with 1,990 MT or 29.4 percent of the total dairy production.
The remaining 78.9 percent of the dairy production came from Central Luzon with a share of 1,320 MT; Northern Mindanao at 840 MT; Western Visayas with 720; and Central Visayas that produced 460 MT.
The PSA said that nine regions posted declines in production during the said period. The highest decrease was at 820 MT seen in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), which produced 1,990 MT, lower than the 2,810 MT in the second quarter of 2022.
As of June 30, the total count of dairy animals was estimated at 93,930 heads.
