More possible bad news for Donald Trump. Fresh evidence obtained by the Department of Justice points to the former president potentially obstructing justice in the case investigating his mishandling of classified documents, Peter Wade reported for Rolling Stone.

The Washington Post also reported that the new pieces of evidence were collated after May 2022, when Trump’s advisers received a subpoena demanding all classified documents in the former president’s possession be returned to the government.
Federal investigators have found evidence that suggests Trump rifled through the boxes containing the documents after receiving the subpoena in an attempt to hold on to certain items, the paper reported.
If true, that could point to obstruction of justice, as what former New York district attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. pointed out in an article published by Raw Story.
In a filing last August, the Justice Department concluded: “that government records were likely concealed and removed from the Storage Room and that efforts were likely taken to obstruct the government’s investigation.”
The New York Times earlier reported that Trump’s staffers moved the boxes for Trump’s inspection. Witness statements, footage from security cameras, as well as other documentary evidence conspire to add more lawsuits against Trump, the Associated Press (AP), Reuters, CNN and Agence France-Presse (AFP) also reported.
Last month, the Justice Department and special counsel Jack Smith subpoenaed more than two dozen Mar-a-Lago employees, calling them to testify before a grand jury.
