Lilly topped the ranking partly because of the breadth and speed of its new-drug development.
The company produces the GLP-1 drugs Mounjaro and Zepbound and is also developing treatments for Alzheimer's disease, breast cancer and migraines. Its next-generation weight-loss drug, retatrutide, is being tested in Phase 3 clinical trials.
Apple ranked No. 2, while Amazon ranked No. 6 and Mastercard No. 10.
Forbes said its Innovation Index incorporates factors including patents and intellectual property, research focus, investor confidence, return on equity, media and social-media sentiment, and assessments generated by synthetic audiences.
