Elon Musk has reportedly floated the idea of closer integration between two of his companies, Tesla and SpaceX, raising questions about the future structure of his business empire, Pras Subramanian reported for Yahoo Finance.

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives suggested earlier this year that Tesla could eventually be merged in some form with SpaceX and xAI, arguing that Musk’s long-term vision may involve integrating space, AI, and automotive technologies into a unified ecosystem.

Musk’s companies already collaborate on various projects, including AI development through xAI and data infrastructure initiatives.

However, a full merger would raise significant governance and shareholder approval questions.

SpaceX remains tightly controlled by Musk through special voting shares, giving him dominant influence over the company, while his stake in Tesla is substantial but not controlling. Any merger involving Tesla would still require shareholder approval.
