Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, encouraged defeated US President Donald Trump on Monday to keep his mouth shut and fade into the shadows, saying it was time for him to "hang up his hat and sail into the sunset," Mary Papenfuss of HuffPost reported.

Musk's reaction came after the losing one-term Republican called Musk "another bullshit artist" during a political event in Anchorage, Alaska on July 9, 2022, for declaring he would vote Republican in the following election.
Musk also urged Democrats to extend Trump mercy and "call off the attack" on him for his role in organizing and carrying out the Jan. 6 violent insurrection. "Dems should also call off the attack - don't make it so that Trump's only way to survive is to reclaim the Presidency," he said.
Trump blasted Musk at a political event in Anchorage, Alaska, on Saturday. Trump cited Musk's comments that he had previously supported Democrats but would vote for Republican candidates in the upcoming election cycle. Trump even claimed Musk told him he voted for him. "So he's another bullshit artist," Trump said.
Trump also boasted that he predicted Musk would back out of his $44 billion bid to buy Twitter. Musk's Twitter acquisition rapidly ran into snags. Musk began to criticize Twitter shortly after expressing interest in the purchase in April, and the company's stock plummeted.
Musk terminated the agreement on Friday, citing "material breach of multiple provisions" and alleging Twitter failed to respond to multiple requests for information regarding bogus or spam accounts.
Brett Taylor, the chair of Twitter's board, stated on Friday that the company is "committed to closing the transaction on the price and terms agreed upon with Mr. Musk and plans to pursue legal action to enforce the merger agreement.
Even if he convinces a judge to allow him out of the arrangement, Musk might face a $1 billion termination fee. Tesla's stock has plummeted 30 percent since Musk boasted about buying Twitter in April.
