David Scott, a senior vice president at Exxon responsible for overseeing all of its shale oil and gas production business, was apprehended early Thursday morning at a La Quinta Inn & Suites hotel in Magnolia, Texas, according to the Montgomery Sheriff's Office.
Exxon spokesperson Emily Mir stated, "We are aware of the allegations and cannot comment on a personal matter; however, we can say that this individual will not continue work responsibilities as the investigation proceeds."
Scott, who is 49 years old, was arrested in his room at the budget hotel located near Exxon's Spring, Texas, headquarters.
According to a worker who viewed a security video, one of the two women in the room with him left and contacted the police from the lobby. Rooms at the hotel typically cost around $120 per night.
