FDA Upgrades Recall of 650,000 Potato Chip Bags Over Salmonella Risk

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has upgraded the recall of approximately 650,000 bags of Utz potato chips to a Class I recall, its most serious classification, because of the potential risk of Salmonella contamination, The Parnas Perspective reported.

The recall affects several Zapp's and Dirty potato chip varieties made with seasoning containing dry milk powder supplied by a third-party manufacturer. Utz said no Salmonella has been detected in its products and that no illnesses have been reported.

A Class I recall indicates that the FDA believes there is a reasonable probability that consuming the affected products could cause serious health consequences or death.

Consumers are advised not to eat the recalled products and should either discard them or contact Utz for a refund.
