Financial Shenanigans Threaten The Knights Of Rizal

A disturbing scandal is unfolding within the Knights of Rizal, a storied Order of Chivalry dedicated to upholding the ideals and teachings of the national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.

This organization, established by Republic Act 646, is embroiled in financial irregularities that could undermine its very foundation and mission.

The motto "non omnis moriar," which translates to "I shall not wholly die," reflects the Order's commitment to preserving Rizal's legacy. Yet, recent audit findings reveal severe breaches of financial protocols.

Trust funds have dwindled inexplicably, real estate taxes remain unpaid, and contributions from foreign members have vanished without a trace.

These revelations are whispered among the Knights, with minority members' concerns stifled by a suspicious proliferation of new chapters. In the quaint artist town of Angono, Rizal, over 100 chapters have been mysteriously established.

These chapters, allegedly filled with unqualified members devoid of the traditionally practiced indoctrination, played a pivotal role in recent elections. Their votes ensured the non-election of trustees poised to investigate these financial misdeeds, effectively shielding the perpetrators from scrutiny.

Nasser S. Sharief, a CPA and member of the Knights of Rizal, warns of the severe implications of these findings.

Sharief, who also serves as the secretary-general of the Southeast Asian Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, describes the creation of sham chapters as a deliberate tactic to obscure financial malfeasance.

According to him, these chapters were designed to manipulate voting outcomes and prevent the exposure of fiscal anomalies, likening the situation to the sinister plots found in Rizal's novels.

Sharief highlights the gravity of the situation: "Our response to this crisis will determine the future of the Order. Shall we remain passive, or shall we strive to embody the courage and moral fortitude of Rizal himself? The time for decisive action and stringent oversight is now. We owe it to the legacy of our national hero and to future generations who will seek to follow in his footsteps."
