European health authorities have identified flavored instant noodles as the most likely source of a Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 106 people across 14 European countries, Marta Iraola reported for Euronews.

Most of the cases involved children and young adults, with at least 49 people hospitalized, according to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
"Flavored noodle products are the most likely source of an ongoing multi-country outbreak of infections, with evidence linking the cases to items from the same brand," the agencies said.
Cases have been reported in Austria, the United Kingdom, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Sweden.
The agencies said product withdrawals and recalls in several countries have "significantly reduced the likelihood" of additional infections linked to the outbreak.
