Ford has ceased shipping F-150 Lightning pickups and has placed them on hold for quality inspections since Feb. 9, as reported by Peter Valdes-Dapena for CNN.

According to Ford spokesperson Emma Berg, the company has not disclosed any specific quality concerns that prompted the shipment pause.
Berg characterized such holds as a routine aspect of the manufacturing process as vehicle production transitions into a new model year. Ford recently commenced shipments of the new 2024 model year F-150 gasoline-powered and hybrid trucks.
The industry newspaper Automotive News first reported on the shipment pause.
While Ford sells significantly more gasoline and hybrid-powered F-150s compared to the battery-powered Lightning, the F-series of full-size pickups has remained the best-selling vehicle in the US for over 40 years.
Last year, Ford sold 750,000 F-series trucks, with approximately 24,000 being Lightnings.
Berg noted that Ford dealers currently have F-150 Lightning trucks in their inventory, ensuring that customers should still have options until shipments resume. Notably, around one year ago, Ford halted Lightning production due to a potential battery issue, but production resumed a few weeks later.
