The recall affects 238,364 vehicles, as stated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The agency has identified a "disconnected driveshaft" as a potential cause of the vehicle rolling away, posing a risk of accidents. Ford will perform the necessary repairs free of charge, including the replacement of the rear axle bolt and subframe bushing, along with an inspection of the rear axle cover for damage.
Ford will send letters to notify affected owners starting on November 6, and owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-936-7332. The recall reference number for this action is 23S55.
The Office of Defects Investigation received two complaints about faulty rear axle bolts, which were already part of a previous recall.
In July, Ford recalled over 870,000 of its full-sized F-150 trucks due to concerns about the electronic parking brake engaging unexpectedly while the vehicle was in motion. This unexpected engagement could lead to a loss of control and potential accidents, as reported by Peter Valdes-Dapena for CNN.
