Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 177,000 vehicles in the United States to address three separate safety defects, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Megan Cerullo reported for CBS News.

The Detroit-based automaker is recalling:
67,842 2024–2026 Ford Mustang and 2025–2026 Mustang GTD vehicles due to a malfunction involving the windshield wiper and washer system.Â
42,784 2021–2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles because of a potential pinion shaft fracture, which could affect the drivetrain.Â
66,383 2024–2027 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid and 2025–2027 Ford Explorer Hybrid vehicles due to a software error that may prevent the pedestrian warning sound from operating.Â
According to the NHTSA, the windshield wiper and washer system issue affecting certain Mustang models may occur in cold weather. Under those conditions, the wipers may operate only at high speed, while the washer system may fail to function.
Owners of affected vehicles may take their vehicles to authorized Ford or Lincoln dealerships, where repairs will be performed free of charge.
Notification letters are expected to be mailed this month. The NHTSA assigned recall number 26V-418 to the Mustang windshield wiper recall.
