The Berlin police force is seeking new recruits with a humorous new video that pushes a message of equality and respect, Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) reported.

The voice-over for the new police recruitment film is provided by Manfred Lehman, known to Germans as the dubbed voice of Hollywood star Bruce Willis, who became famous for his role as a New York police officer.

Barbara Slowik, "the first female police president of Berlin," looks into the camera at the keywords "We celebrate equality" in the video which also has English subtitles.

Dry humor is provided when a graffiti artist is apprehended spraying the acronym "ACAB," which usually stands for "All cops are bastards," but which the voice-over calls a "cool abbreviation" that for the Berlin police stands for "All colors are beautiful."

"Obviously we could also show you that we are working in the coolest city in the world, with culture and subculture," the voice-over says as it shows a young woman appearing to smoke a joint, which is immediately followed by the word, "Oh sorry" as the joint is replaced by a lollipop.

The police don't want to show this, it goes on to say, rather "attitude" in securing people's rights, even the right to argue against the police.

"We are into diversity. And we welcome applications from women, men and all other genders from Europe, if you are between 16 and 39 years old," a note posted under the video on YouTube said on Thursday.
