Video shared by the ministry shows German troops walking across the airbase, followed by a formal presentation by General Pfeffer reporting the evacuation operation was over to the country’s Minister of Defense.

Germany concluded its operations in Afghanistan five days before the US military’s August 31 withdrawal deadline, with the last evacuation flight leaving Kabul on August 26, Deutsche Welle reported.

German Minister of Defense Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer said the country had flown out 5,347 people from at least 45 nations since August 16, including “our own nationals, Afghan local staff and members of other nations.”
