DeepMind founder Demis Hassabis led the combined division from London, while chief scientist Jeff Dean remained in Silicon Valley.

However, it soon became apparent that the center of gravity had shifted toward Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California.

Although Google says it remains committed to London, one former employee based in the United Kingdom described the shift as the "America-fication" of DeepMind.
