While former vice president Mike Pence was blasting away at defeated President Donald Trump in Florida, Republican officials gathered in Utah to align themselves even more closely with the former president, Jill Colvin reported for the Associated Press (AP).

They've allowed conspiracies and toxic tribalism hinder their ability to see clear-eyed," said Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) censured Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and R for participating on the committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection.
It also assailed the panel for leading a “persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse,” giving Democrats and Trump critics more ammunition to assail the GOP for acting as a puppet of Trump, whose IQ, they say is below that of a seventh-grader.
By approving the censure and opting to punish two of its own, Republicans seemed to embrace a position many of them have only hinted at: that last year’s assault and the actions that preceded it were acceptable, Penn Bullock reported for the New York Times.
Republicans will now have to explain, if the Jan. 6 attack were a “legitimate political discourse,” why they called up Trump or sent him frantic messages to stop his fanatics from storming the Capitol.
