Harvard Board Backs University President Claudine Gay

Embattled Harvard President Claudine Gay has garnered unanimous support from the university's board, Harvard's highest governing body said in a statement, providing significant cover for Gay to remain in her position after a tumultuous week.

Many donors and politicians have called for her ouster, as reported by Matt Egan for CNN.


"As members of the Harvard Corporation, we reaffirm our support for President Gay’s continued leadership of Harvard University," the statement from the Harvard Corporation said.

The Harvard Corporation, the university’s top governance board, announced the decision this week following the conclusion of its board meeting.

The Harvard Crimson, the university’s student newspaper, was the first to report the news on Tuesday morning. "In this tumultuous and difficult time, we unanimously stand in support of President Gay," the Corporation added in its statement, as reported by Eva Rothenberg for CNN.
