HK Consumer Council Scores 4 Pharmacies

The Hong Kong Consumer Council has strongly criticized four Chinese pharmacies in Causeway Bay for their unethical sales practices, as reported by Dimsumdaily Hong Kong.


Of the total complaints, 80 cases involved sales malpractices.



These pharmacies have collectively received 296 complaints from consumers between 2021 and August 2023. The council emphasized that their ongoing operations have tarnished Hong Kong's reputation.


Of the total complaints, 80 cases involved sales malpractices. In the first eight months of 2023 alone, the number of complaints against these pharmacies reached 49, surpassing the total number of cases reported in 2022.



The total monetary value involved in the sale of Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) ingredients and dried seafood amounted to HK$586,001, averaging approximately HK$11,959 per case.

The pharmacies in question are: City Medicine Ltd., Ground Floor, 522 Lockhart Road, Causeway Bay; Medicine Palace Living Plaza, Ground Floor, 521 Lockhart Road, Causeway Bay; Global Medicine Co., Shop 20, Ground Floor & 1st Floor, the Annex Land Building, Excelsior Plaza, Causeway Bay; Chung Wang Tong Medicine Co. Ltd., and; On Hong Medicine Co., Shop 20, Ground Floor & 1st Floor, the Annex Land Building, Excelsior Plaza, Causeway Bay.
