The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at limiting U.S. military action against Iran, in a rare bipartisan challenge to President Donald Trump’s war policy, according to reporting by Lisa Mascaro for The Associated Press (AP).

The measure passed by a vote of 215–208, with several Republicans joining Democrats in support. The resolution reflects growing congressional concern over the ongoing conflict and its economic and geopolitical consequences.
House Speaker Mike Johnson had previously delayed consideration of the measure, but mounting opposition within Congress led to renewed momentum.
Supporters argued that the war has contributed to rising domestic economic pressures, including higher fuel and consumer prices.
Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York, a senior Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said the conflict has placed significant strain on American households and called for an end to military engagement.
Trump is expected to oppose any measure that restricts his authority as commander in chief. The Senate has also considered similar legislation, signaling broader legislative scrutiny of executive war powers.
