The head of the UN nuclear watchdog has called for the reinstatement of international inspectors at Iran’s nuclear sites, urging access to account for Tehran’s growing stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

The request follows recent strikes by the U.S. and Israel on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Gulf News reported.
During an emergency meeting in Vienna, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grossi said the return of IAEA inspectors is critical to resuming negotiations.
“The parties should allow IAEA inspectors—the guardians on behalf of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)—to go back to Iran’s nuclear sites and account for the stockpiles of uranium,” Grossi said, noting the presence of “400 kilograms enriched to 60%.”
He revealed that Iran had sent a letter on June 13 notifying the IAEA of “special measures to protect nuclear equipment and materials.”
Over the weekend, the United States launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites, joining Israel’s ongoing campaign against Tehran’s atomic program.
