IBM has announced its intention to purchase Software AG's enterprise integration platforms for 2.13 billion euros ($2.33 billion), aiming to strengthen its artificial intelligence and hybrid cloud offerings, according to Reuters.

IBM will use available cash on hand to acquire Software AG's StreamSets and webMethods platforms, integral components of Software AG's "Super Ipaas" business launched in October.
These platforms provide application integration, application programming interface (API) management, and data integration, among other functionalities.
Software AG, majority-owned by private equity firm Silver Lake, holds a 93.3% stake in the German software company.
The takeover pursuit, spanning several months, valued the entire business at 2.6 billion euros ($2.84 billion).
Christian Lucas, chairman of the supervisory board of Software AG, expressed excitement about the opportunity to bring together the StreamSets and webMethods teams with IBM to innovate in building the future of hybrid cloud and next-generation AI solutions for the enterprise.
