Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said his country would continue to support Lebanon, which is roiled by a deepening economic crisis, and promised Tehran will send more fuel shipments to Beirut, Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) reported.

"We continue to send oil derivatives to Lebanon, and we hope that in the future it will be within the framework of protocol agreements between the two countries," Amir Abdollahian said after meeting in Beirut with the chief of Iran-allied Lebanese Hezbollah group, Hassan Nasrallah.
Iran is set to deliver more fuel shipments in the coming days to energy-starved Lebanon through neighboring Syria for distribution by Hezbollah. Last month, Nasrallah announced that Iran was ready to send supplies to Lebanon to ease the country's crippling fuel shortage and economic crisis.
Hezbollah's deal came despite the fact that Iran is under US sanctions and is banned from exporting its oil. The US has warned that it will impose sanctions on whoever purchases Iranian oil.
Wrapping up a two-day visit to Lebanon on Friday, the top Iranian diplomat said his country was ready to help Lebanon in overcoming its severe electricity problem by building two power plants.
He added that his country was also ready to secure Lebanon's needs of medicines, food, and medical equipment as well as construct a subway.
