When Donald Trump decided to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal in May 2018, Israel’s the-prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, turned the decision into a political celebration, Amir Tibon reported for the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

Israeli media outlets received detailed briefings on how a daring Mossad operation to steal Iran’s “nuclear archive” from a secure location in the Islamic Republic was the final straw that convinced Trump to break the international agreement.
Now, Israelis are learning from a former Mossad chief, an ex-defense minister and the commander of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) that there was nothing to celebrate for Trump’s theatrics.
As one Israeli analyst said, there was nothing strategic, rational, or thoughtful about Trump’s decision to scrap the Iran agreement. He argued that Trump shredded the deal because it was negotiated by the Obama administration.
Trump did not understand the agreement at all. It was all theatrics, “gloriously stupid and futile,” another chimed in.
“President Trump was facilitated by his own Zionist son-in-law and daughter to be milked by Zionists and then slathered,” insisted another.
Worse, analysts argued, Trump might have intentionally helped Iran to become a nuclear country in order to stand up for Israel.
A critic said Israel must also denuclearize, destroy the Dimona nuke complex and abide by all UN nuclear inspections and monitoring. And Israeli media must admit being fooled by, and carrying water for, Netanyahu for a long time.
