It's A Banner Year For Richest Self-Made Women In U.S.

It’s been a banner year for the 100 entrepreneurs, executives and entertainers on Forbes’ 9th annual list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women—a group that has built fortunes in just about every conceivable sector, from books to beauty products to biometrics, Forbes reported.

Bolstered in part by a rebound in the stock market, they are cumulatively worth a record $124 billion, up nearly 12% from a year ago.

That upswing helped lift the cutoff to make the list to $225 million, up from $215 million last year. Sixty-three are worth more than a year ago, including eight newcomers. Roofing and building supply distributor Diane Hendricks remains No. 1 for the 6th year in a row, with a record $15 billion fortune. Of the 100 list members, 24 are billionaires.

The youngest member on this year’s ranking is cosmetics entrepreneur and reality TV star Kylie Jenner, who’s just 25 years old and worth an estimated $680 million. She’s one of 11 people on the list under 40.

The youngest self-made billionaire, at 35, is pop star and cosmetics entrepreneur Rihanna, whose halftime show at this year’s Super Bowl drew 121 million viewers. Her most valuable asset is her half of Fenty Beauty, a popular makeup line she launched in partnership with luxury goods giant LVMH in 2017.
