Kia Recalls Over 427,000 Telluride SUVs

Kia announced the recall of more than 427,000 of its Telluride SUVs due to a defect that may cause the vehicles to roll away while parked, as reported by the Associated Press (AP).

Documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) revealed that the intermediate shaft and right front driveshaft of certain 2020-2024 Tellurides might not be fully engaged.

This issue could lead to "unintended vehicle movement" while the cars are parked, posing increased crash risks.

Earlier this month, Kia America opted to recall all 2020-2023 model year Tellurides and select 2024 model year vehicles, as indicated in NHTSA documents. No injuries or crashes were reported at the time of the decision.

The recall covers 2020-2024 Tellurides manufactured between January 9, 2019, and October 19, 2023. Kia America estimates that 1% of these vehicles may have the defect, suspected to be caused by improper assembly.
