Oracle founder Larry Ellison briefly became the world’s richest person on Wednesday after shares of his company surged more than 30% at the open, Doloresz Katanich reported for Euronews.

The rally, fueled by multibillion-dollar AI-related orders, temporarily lifted Ellison’s net worth to $383.2 billion (€327.7b), edging past Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s $384.2 billion (€328.6b).
Musk regained the top spot by day’s end as Oracle’s stock gave back some gains, Bloomberg reported.
Oracle’s strong earnings contrasted with Tesla’s decline, with Musk’s carmaker down more than 8% this year. Beyond Tesla, Musk also controls private companies including SpaceX, his AI startup xAI, and X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, the Associated Press (AP) noted.
