An international drug syndicate was busted after Malaysian police seized more than 18,000 kilograms of drugs worth RM1.53 billion ($375 million), in one of the country’s largest drug busts on record, Channel News Asia reported.

Local media said a series of raids in the Klang Valley uncovered a massive drug-processing laboratory in a three-storey bungalow, along with several other premises used for storage.
The seizures included 3 kg of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), commonly known as ecstasy, 4,041 kg of cocaine and 14,493 kg of ketamine, according to Free Malaysia Today.
“It is definitely one of the biggest drug seizures ever,” Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director Hussein Omar Khan said, as quoted by The Star.
“The drugs could have been supplied to 68.5 million users,” he added — roughly twice Malaysia’s population of 34.2 million.
Six suspects — three Malaysian men and three foreign women aged 24 to 39 — were arrested.
