Manny Pangilinan Is New PLDT CEO

Manuel V. Pangilinan, the current chairman of the PLDT Group, will assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PLDT and Smart Communications Inc. following the retirement of the incumbent head, Alfredo S. Panlilio.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), PLDT stated that Panlilio's retirement will be effective on Dec. 31, 2023. Pangilinan will take over Panlilio's position and duties starting Jan. 1, 2024, concurrent with his role as Chairman "until such time as a new President and CEO is appointed."


The PLDT Board of Directors accepted Panlilio's retirement and appointed Pangilinan on Dec. 5. Panlilio retired due to health reasons, according to the disclosure.
