McDonald’s Corp., based in Chicago, clarified that the issues were not due to a cybersecurity attack but rather a "technology outage" that was undergoing resolution.
The company stated, "We are aware of a technology outage, which impacted our restaurants; the issue is now being resolved." They also expressed gratitude to customers for their patience and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
In Japan, McDonald’s posted on social media that "operations are temporarily out at many of our stores nationwide" due to a "system failure." Similarly, in Hong Kong, the chain reported on Facebook that a "computer system failure" disrupted online orders and self-serve kiosks.
