“We are honored to receive this Safety Seal, as the government recognizes our efforts to prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19 in our facilities. This is part of our commitment to provide a safe and healthy workplace, not only for our staff, but to all people who will go inside our facilities,” said Edgar Saavedra, Megawide Chairman and CEO.

“This is an added layer of protection for us and our workers, aside from the vaccination efforts for our employees and our adherence to the health and safety protocols. We are confident that DOLE will find that our other sites are compliant with the protocols, and will award Safety Seals to these sites,” stated Markus Hennig, Megawide Executive Vice President.

DOLE Regional Director Exequiel Ronie Guzman, meanwhile, lauded the company for its programs and protocols.

“Despite the fact that you have (thousands) of workers, you are indeed worthy to be awarded with the Safety Seal and this will show that your compliance doesn’t only deal with the minimum health and safety standards, but you are actually implementing the maximum safety standards. This safety seal — [seals the] customers’ confidence of the ability of your company not only to deliver products and services that are— how you take care of your people,” he said.

Contact tracing through the StaySafe app

The Safety Seal is a certification that an establishment is compliant with the government’s minimum public health standards to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and uses or integrates its contact tracing with StaySafe.ph.

The Megawide Group has rolled out the use of the StaySafe app in all its facilities, including offices, production plants, and project sites.

“Aside from our own health and safety protocols that are aligned with the government’s protocols, the StaySafe app rollout also makes it easier for contact tracing efforts, as our system is now integrated with the government database. This would boost the confidence of people who go to our facilities,” said Hennig

The DOLE issues the Safety Seal for the manufacturing sector, construction sites, utilities, information and communication companies, and warehouses.
