This move signifies a monumental step in powering the nation’s digital future.
MSERV, a subsidiary of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), will play a crucial role in energizing the massive data center, a testament to its standing as one of the largest Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEPF) contractors and Energy Service Companies (ESCO) in the Philippines.
This collaboration will not only foster innovation but also drive technological advancement across the country’s digital industry.
“We are on track for significant progress by the third quarter of this year and anticipate completing the core structure and energizing power equipment for the data center. This will be a major milestone and demonstrates our ability to deliver on this project,” said STT GDC Philippines President and CEO Carlo Malana at a recent event with One Meralco.
This partnership underscores the shared vision of both companies for a transformative digital future, unlocking innovation and growth nationwide.
In November last year, MSERV was awarded the contract to supply and install key electrical equipment for the data center, including high-voltage gas-insulated switch gears, high voltage oil-immersed transformers, and medium voltage dry-type transformers.
“Meralco's commitment to providing reliable power is a significant factor in our selection for our STT Fairview data center project,” said Pierre San Diego, STT GDC Philippines’ Head of Design and Construction.
“This collaboration goes beyond just securing electricity; it fuels a shared vision for a transformative digital future.”
STT GDC Philippines is a joint venture among Globe Telecom Inc., Ayala Corporation, and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres. It operates data centers strategically located in Metro Manila, Cavite, and Davao, making it a key player in the nation’s digital infrastructure.
MSERV’s role extends beyond the traditional offerings of after-the-meter facilities and electrical works.
“With MSERV as your partner, we recognize the critical role of energy efficiency in promoting a clean, safe, and sustainable environment for data center facilities. We are ready to deliver customized energy efficiency solutions to meet your unique requirements,” said MSERV President and CEO Ronald R. Torres.
Torres further emphasized the company's commitment, stating, “MSERV is deeply committed to our ongoing partnership. Together, we are not just providers of data center services but digital enablers towards a progressive future. We hope to continue playing a significant role in fostering innovation and driving technological advancement to new heights.”
Backed by Meralco’s extensive energy expertise, MSERV’s involvement in this project aligns with the government’s push for the Philippines to become the next hyperscaler hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
As one of the largest ESCOs in the country, MSERV offers a broad range of solutions to ensure efficient energy utilization, supporting the digital industry in its quest for growth and sustainability.
With this groundbreaking partnership, the future of the Philippines' digital infrastructure looks brighter than ever. The successful energization of the STT GDC data center will set a new standard for technological progress and innovation in the region.
