Meta trimmed its losses after The New York Times reported that the company is in talks to lease computing power to AI startup Anthropic in a deal valued at approximately US$10 billion, Grace O'Donnell reported for Yahoo Finance.

According to the report, which cited three people familiar with the discussions, Anthropic proposed the arrangement and would make monthly payments over a two-year period.
If completed, the agreement would create a new revenue stream for Meta while helping offset the company's heavy investments in data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
It would also position Meta as a competitor to AI-focused cloud computing providers such as CoreWeave and Nebius.
Meta shares were down 2% in afternoon trading after falling as much as 5.7% earlier in the session.
Separately, Jake Conley reported that Bank of America (BofA) remains optimistic about the semiconductor sector despite its recent downturn.
According to BofA, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index has declined roughly 13% over the past month as investors reacted to concerns over capital expenditures, spending forecasts, and profit-taking.
