The announcements were made as Microsoft outlined its vision of Windows as a platform for what it calls “hybrid intelligence.”

The approach is intended to combine on-device processing with cloud-based AI services, allowing tasks to run where they can be handled most effectively.

Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella presented the company's broader strategy alongside new hardware, including the Surface Laptop Ultra, which is designed to support demanding AI workloads locally.

Microsoft also highlighted changes to Copilot and security features intended to help control what AI agents can access and do on a computer.

The company says the updated Windows platform will enable AI agents to perform more tasks directly on a PC, while still using cloud resources for work that requires greater computing power.

The announcements reflect Microsoft's effort to make Windows a central platform for AI applications as competition intensifies across the technology industry.
