Movie and television filming in the Greater Los Angeles area declined by 22% in the first quarter, reflecting a global production downturn and California's ongoing loss of entertainment business to other regions, Bloomberg News reported.

The scale of the decline highlights Hollywood's retrenchment in recent years.
Television production, which makes up the largest segment of the industry, dropped by 31%, while feature film production fell 29%.
