With the continued decline in COVID-19 cases, the incipient surge of foreign tourists, and the preparations in place for the opening of the economy, the message of hope and resilience that Metro Pacific Investments Corp (MPIC) has echoed early on resonates well in the country.

Beginning with the release of a calendar that sought to color the Filipinos’ persona as the virus downs residents, MPIC, the leading infrastructure investment company in the country, segued with what it billed as its corporate anthem: Bayan Sulong Na.

That song embodied the battle cry for hope for the citizenry to face this year with much hope, however blight the circumstances, and forthwith go on and face down the virus.

“The resilience of Filipinos has always been unmatched. Our ability to get back on our feet after the unimaginable is something we are truly known for,” said MPIC President & CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan.

"However, our message moving forward goes beyond recovery and focuses on rebuilding and resurgence,” he added.

“Bayan Sulong Na” encapsulates the conglomerate’s thrust for a strengthened sense of hope. Participated in by its top executives, the corporate anthem embodies MPIC’s partnership in nation-building, as well as its hopes and aspirations for all Filipinos – to face the coming years with the belief that they have someone to count on.

“Prior to the challenges posed by the past couple of years, we at MPIC have always been committed to becoming reliable partners in development, for both the country and its people,” said MPIC VP for PR & Corporate Communications Melody del Rosario. “As we move forward this 2022, we introduced this anthem to solidify our dedication to the progress and change we envision for us all.”

Tapped for the Bayan Na Sulong Na was PhilPop 2020 Songwriting Festival Grand Finalist and Viva Records Artist and Talent Development Manager Roovee Michelle “Chochay” Magno, who penned the lyrics for the corporate anthem of hope.

The songwriter and television music producer has written songs for Tawag ng Tanghalan Champions Janine Berdin, the TNT Boys, and Eumee, and her works were featured by several brands, television channels, and advertisements – including the 2020 Grand Coronation Night of Binibining Pilipinas.

Before the release of the anthem of hope, the conglomerate released its 2022 corporate calendar entitled Ang Kulay ng Pag-Gabay, highlighting the six MVP Gabay Advocacies for a Sustainable Philippines. It was meant to color the citizenry’s zest for life with a burst of colors.

The company’s second coloring book-style calendar showcased the entire Manuel V. Pangilinan (MVP) Group’s positive community impact programs that underline the holistic progress that the conglomerate continues to make throughout the years.

Pangilinan, MPIC’s President & CEO set the precedent for harmonizing the group’s positive community impact programs upon launching the advocacies on his 75th birthday. “The idea of Gabay is to serve as a guiding light, a driving force, and most importantly, a helping hand towards achieving a more significant purpose. Signifying that in this calendar gets our message across in one meaningful and useful package.”

MPIC’s Ang Kulay ng Pag-Gabay calendar is a symbolic work of art that shows the “big picture” of the MVP Group’s impact towards attaining a Sustainable Philippines to all its recipients. The coloring book-style imagery also figuratively depicts the outline that all the company’s subsidiaries, beneficiaries, and stakeholders bring color to through each unique program.

Guided by one of the six Gabay Advocacies – Kalikasan, Kalusugan, Karunungan, Komunidad, Kabataan, and Kabuhayan – each page not only showcases an illustration that tells the story of a project but also features quotes from key people who have either been instrumental to the progress or have sentiments that express the true essence of the good work being done.

“Everything that we do at MPIC is anchored on our purpose – to contribute significantly to nation-building by delivering high-quality essential services and thereby uplifting the lives in the communities we serve,” says Chief Finance, Risk, and Sustainability Officer Chaye Cabal-Revilla. “The Gabay Calendar gives our stakeholders a glimpse of how we are working hard to make a lasting difference.”

Upgrading 2021’s Color Your World calendar, the 2022 calendar is a collaborative effort between the whole MVP group, intended to emphasize its reinforced goal of making a bigger collective impact as a business group and as a partner in national development.”

As 2022 begins, it is vital for the country and all Filipinos to embrace it with open hearts and open minds. More importantly, however, all must be proactive in coloring the bigger picture it brings, to make it brighter and more alive than the years that passed.
