With Tesla’s electric vehicle sales declining 6.7% last year, it is no surprise that CEO Elon Musk is pinning the company’s future on robotaxis, artificial intelligence, and robotics—even though they have yet to generate meaningful revenue, Danielle Chemtob reported for Forbes Daily.

Despite positioning itself as an industry disruptor, Tesla now faces one of the most common challenges for automakers: underutilized manufacturing plants.
The brand has also taken a hit amid controversy over Musk’s political views, intense competition in China, and its failure to release new models beyond the Cybertruck.
Tesla’s newest vehicle, the Cybercab, is set to enter production this spring, but its success is far from assured—particularly since the company does not yet appear to have approval to sell it as a fully self-driving car.
