The US and European nations are shipping air defense systems to Ukraine as Russia continues its missile attacks, barely a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pleaded for them.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also urged members to provide air defense systems to Ukraine as the NATO defense ministers met in Brussels along with the US-led Contact Group for Ukraine, Kyiv Independent reported.

France will supply Ukraine with air defense systems, including radars and missiles, in the coming weeks, President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with tv channel France 2 on Oct. 12.

Macron didn’t provide details on what type of anti-aircraft missiles or how many would be transferred but confirmed that six Caesar howitzers are en route to Ukraine. Zelensky said Ukraine only has 10% of the air defense systems it needs.

The UK is also supplying air defense missiles to Ukraine, Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said. He added that he has already approved the delivery of AMRAAM missiles to Ukraine.

“These weapons will help Ukraine defend its skies from attacks and strengthen their overall missile defense alongside the US NASAMS,” Wallace said, the UK newspaper Guardian reported. US NASAMS systems are expected to be deployed in a matter of days.

Germany will also hand over to Ukraine a considerable number of Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers and multiple launch rocket systems MARS II “in the next few weeks.”

The announcement was made during the sixth Ramstein format meeting in Brussels on Oct. 12.

The Netherlands will also be supplying surface-to-air missiles worth $14.5 million to Ukraine. Following Russia’s recent mass missile strikes on Ukraine, Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren said on Oct. 12 that these attacks “can only be met with unrelenting support for Ukraine and its people.”

Immediately, the Netherlands shipped surface-to-air missiles worth $14.5 million to Ukraine.
