The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office has dismissed Benny Gantz’s threat to leave the government, arguing that his ultimatum regarding the war plan against Hamas would harm Israel, Eugenia Yosef and Kareem El Damanhoury reported for CNN.

“The conditions set by Benny Gantz are washed-up words whose meaning is clear: the end of the war and a defeat for Israel, the abandonment of most of the hostages, leaving Hamas intact and the establishment of a Palestinian state,” the office stated.

It questioned whether Gantz is committed to eliminating Hamas battalions, opposing the Palestinian Authority's introduction into Gaza, and opposing the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is committed to all three goals.

Gantz responded by accusing Netanyahu of stalling due to fear of extremists within his government, suggesting that Netanyahu would have "finished the mission" if he had listened to Gantz and entered Rafah months ago.
